Trichloroisocyanuric Acid is a crystalline powder that comes with a chlorine-like odor. It is majorly used in tablet or granular form to kill bacteria and control algae in swimming pools and hot tubs. It is an industrial chemical made up of the elements carbon chlorine, nitrogen, and oxygen. It is also known as petrichor or TCCA. Trichloroisocyanuric Acid is produced by hydrolysis of crude or waste melamine by crystallization. These contain cyanuric acid and on occasion, dissolved amino-substituted triazines, namely, ammeline, ammelide, and melamine.
